shortened form of 'Hananiah' which means "Yahweh is gracious."  Brother of Nehemiah.  Some believe this is the same Hananiah mentioned in the Elephantine papyri (dated back to Nehemiah's time) that was head of the Jewish affairs in Jerusalem.  It is also believed he succeeded Nehemiah c.427 BC.

Transsubstantiation is a term used by some to describe a belief that the bread and wine of communion actually becomes the real presence of Christ; that when a person partakes of the Table elements, those elements transform into the actual blood and body of Christ.  It differs from consubstantiation which emphasizes that somehow Christ is present in the elements, but the elements do not transform into the actual body and blood of Christ.

An ordinance is a practice established by Jesus Christ that commemorates and symbolizes some aspect of His atoning sacrifice or redeeming work. Examples of ordinances practiced within Baptist Churches are Baptism and the Lord's Supper, or Communion.
