Why Memorize Scipture?

Why Memorize Scipture?

7 Reasons for Memorizing Scripture

1. It is food for the soul. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).
2. It helps us to know and love God. ...Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind (Matthew 22:37a).
3. It protects our hearts and minds from sin. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee (Psalm 119:11).
4. It helps us pray with confidence. If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7).
5. It is filled with God's promises to believers. One example is: I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5).
6. It helps us witness to unbelievers. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. (1 Peter 3:15).
7. It helps us to love and encourage others. And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works (Hebrews 10:24).
