While Bethel Baptist Church traces its origins to Sunday School outreach efforts in the 1920´s, and a non-denominational church simply called "Bethel Church", our formal affiliation with the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada (formerly the Baptist Union of Western Canada or BUWC) did not occur until 1955 when 8 charter members made an application to the B.C. Convention of Baptist Churches and held its first official meeting as Bethel Baptist Church in February of 1956. (The BC Convention of Baptist Churches then became part of the BUWC (now CBWC) in 1968.)

The Canadian Baptists of Western Canada (CBWC) is a Christ-centered community of churches across the four western provinces and two territories, with over 200 churches (including church plants) serving over 100,000 worshippers in a variety of sizes and settings, as well as conducting services in over 30 languages. The CBWC’s three-fold purpose is: Inviting Faith; Acting in Mercy; Cultivating Leaders.

The CBWC is also part of a larger family under the umbrella of Canadian Baptist Ministries, an association of conventions and unions across Canada that call themselves, Baptists.  For more information about the CBWC go to cbwc.ca.
